Fees For Probate & The Administration of Estates
Fees For Our Work
Our fees are subject to an hourly rate of £200.00 per hour for an unchallenged estate. The exact cost will depend on the individual circumstances of the matter. For example, if there are two beneficiaries and no property, costs will be at the lower end of the range typically in the region of £2,500.00. If there are multiple beneficiaries, multiple properties, investments, businesses and multiple bank accounts, costs will be at the higher end of around £25,000.00. VAT is also charge thereon at the current prevailing rate of 20%.
Disbursements
The following disbursements (i.e. official expenses associated with the administration of the estate).
Probate application fee is currently £155.00 but this will change to a sliding scale on 1st April 2019 as follows:
Estates worth less than £50,000 will be charged nothing.
Estates worth between £50,000 and £300,000 will be charged £250.00.0
Estates worth between £300,000 and £500,000 will be charged £750.00.
Estates worth between £500,000 and £1 million will be charged £2,500.00.
Estates worth between £1 million and £1.6 million will be charged £4,000.00.
Estates worth between £1.6 million and £2 million will be charged £5,000.00.
Estates worth more than £2 million will be charged £6,000,.00.
The costs of swearing an oath is £5.00 plus £2,50 per attachment (per executor)
Also a Bankruptcy-only Land Charges Department search may be required and this usually costs £1.00 per beneficiary.
Other Fees
If there is no will or the estate consists of any share holdings (stocks and bonds) there is likely to be additional costs that could range significantly depending on the estate and how it is to be dealt with. We can give you a more accurate quote once we have more information. If any additional copies of the grant are required, they will cost £0.50 (1 per asset usually). Dealing with the sale or transfer of any property in the estate is not included.
